T.H.E.A., Inc. is a program created to help students reach their highest potential. This is accomplished by working directly with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and community leaders. Children are our future and we must do all we can to prepare them for life.

The T.H.E.A. program will ultimately serve as a viable, relevant force in the education of "at risk" youth who are currently experiencing difficulties in their school systems. It will do so by provision of a vigorous life management system that enables successful participants to effectively make decisions, set goals and establish ethical value structures. Proper implementation of this system will direct students toward potential actualization and integration of their latent skills repertoire.

A major theoretical substrate for T.H.E.A. is Maslow's Hierachy of Basic Needs which pre-supposes fulfillment of lower-order survival needs (such as food and shelter) before higher-order needs (such as personal growth) can be met. When precisely operational, program procedures will meet the needs of disadvantaged students by using educational and therapeutic techniques that facilitate positive change. The major components of the program may be applied to students ranging in age from 10 to 20 years. The program will also provide an efficacious teacher training segment to prepare teachers in the implementation of T.H.E.A. exercises, activities and techniques in the classroom. Utilizing a systems perspective, parent participation will be considered an essential programmatic component. In short, T.H.E.A. will help students and teachers accomplish their vital respective goals: To learn and to teach.
